The ability to know where your children and loved ones are at all times has become easier than ever: it could be sharing your mobile phone location with your partner, putting an AirTag in your child’s schoolbag, or tracking young adults and teens in a family location safety app.

The Irish Times would like to talk to people about their experience of using technology to track the location of children, partners, friends and older relatives, consensually or otherwise, as well as their experience of being tracked.

Can you see when your children arrive safely at school, or when your partner diverts to the shop on the way home? Maybe you can see when your young adult child has left the pub on a night out?

Do you have the experience of being tracked by your parents or partners? Does it make you feel safe or would you prefer more privacy?

There are a variety of opinions on when location tracking is appropriate and even necessary and when it is not. We’re interested in getting a spectrum of stories and opinions.
