The first Ann Mullen Memorial Cup took place last Sunday at Castle Dargan
Castle Dargan Golf Club hosted the first Ann Mullen Memorial Cup on Sunday, with a fantastic turnout of members, friends and guests coming together to honour the memory of a much-loved past captain, member and friend of the club.
Castle Dargan Golf Club extended a special word of thanks to Ann’s family, Stephen, Gareth, Keith and family who generously supported the competition and offered a gorgeous trophy in memory of Ann and her lasting contribution to Castle Dargan Golf Club which will be played for annually.
Ann was a highly respected and cherished member of Castle Dargan, having served as Lady Captain and giving so much of her time, energy and enthusiasm to the club.
She sadly passed away in August 2024.
She was a wonderful friend to many and was always at the heart of the social side of club life, enjoying countless happy times with members, friends and guests both on and off the course.
The first staging of the Memorial Cup was a tremendous success and with a great turnout. It was wonderful to see so many people come together to celebrate Ann’s life, remember the good times and honour her connection with Castle Dargan.
Following the golf, everyone gathered for a lovely meal, providing an opportunity to share stories and memories of Ann and enjoy the company of old friends and fellow members.
There were some excellent scores in the competition, with Eileen Candon taking the inaugural Ann Mullen Memorial Cup with an outstanding 44 points.
Competition Results
Winner – Eileen Candon (44 pts), in Second Overall was Hughie Clinton (42 pts), Third was Kevin Durkin and Second Lady was Breege McGoldrick.
Castle Dargan Golf Club would like to sincerely thank Stephen, Keith, Gareth and family for their generosity and support in establishing the Memorial Cup and helping make the first year such a special occasion.
The inaugural Ann Mullen Memorial Cup was a fitting tribute to a past captain, valued member and dear friend and a wonderful way to ensure that Ann’s memory continues to be celebrated at the club she loved.
Organisers and members are already looking forward to the next instalment to pay tribute to their dear friend.
