A mechanic can be seen blocking the car, shouting “stop idiot” as the driver attempts to reverse and speed away.

As the vehicle continues to reverse into the man, a woman sees the crazy moment and tries to intervene.

She bangs on the window, yanks on the handle and shouts “stop the f**king car, who’s car is this?”

Another man also attempts to help but their efforts are useless.

The terrifying ordeal escalated further when the car speeds towards the parking lot exit with the mechanic still clutching on to the back.

Horrified onlookers shout “call the police” fearing the situation might take a dark turn.

Shockingly the driver continues reversing wildly into oncoming traffic with the mechanic still holding on.

The mechanic finally lets go and the driver bombs it down the wrong side of the road, escaping the furious workers.

A worker claimed on Facebook that the ordeal started because the Mercedes allegedly drove off without paying, and with a car scanner tool, according to Nine News.

The mechanic clinging to the boot, believed to be the owner of Noble Park mechanics, claimed the driver had been trying to flee without paying for thousands of dollars worth of work.

His workers claim that the two men had been disputing the unpaid fees which led to the events of the video.

Victoria Police officers were called to the car park on Cheltenham Road around 5.30pm on Wednesday.

They said: “During the dispute, it is alleged a 48-year-old Keysborough man clung onto the boot of a moving Mercedes-Benz for a short distance,

“The man was not injured and the vehicle fled prior to police arrival.”

The mechanic’s brother said that they were a small business and the whole situation was “ridiculous”.

He said: “Especially on an AMG, his car is worth I think around $80,000, he should have $1000 to pay for it.”

Another fight allegedly occurred on Thursday morning when the driver’s parents tried to settle the dispute.

A worker said: “There was an argument, we’re not paying for this, we’ll just pay for that, and that’s when the trouble started.”

Police confirmed they had responded to reports of an unlawful assault at a Noble Park business.

“It is alleged a 48-year-old Keysborough man was assaulted at the premises on Tower Park Drive about 11.30am. He sustained minor injuries,” police said.

Another 48-year-old man, from Epping, was interviewed and released pending summons, police said.

The alleged driver of the Mercedes-Benz, a 20-year-old man from Campbellfield, presented himself to a police station the following day.

Police said: “He was interviewed and is expected to be charged on summons with traffic offences including reckless conduct endangering life, reckless conduct endangering serious injury and drive in a manner dangerous.”

Police are still investigating.

The viral video, which was initially posted by Aus Street Rides, has shocked viewers and stirred up an online debate.

“This is crazy. I just want to know how much he was supposed to pay … he was reversing to Timbuktu,” one comment said.
