UKRAINIAN president Volodymyr Zelensky’s plane was almost hit by a drone on his way to the funeral of Norway’s King Harald.

The aircraft was about to take off from Moldova when it was targeted en route to Oslo, Norweigan Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Store revealed.

He told public broadcaster NRK: “His plane was almost hit by a drone as it was about to take off from Moldova. That is the reality he is facing.”

Despite the threat, Mr Zelensky arrived on Tuesday evening and marched behind King Harald’s coffin at yesterday’s funeral alongside other world leaders, before flying on to Canada.

Prince William and Princess Anne were also at the funeral.

The Ukrainian leader told the Norweigan PM he hadn’t had a good night after receiving news by phone of fresh missile strikes in his homeland.

PM Mr Store added: “It’s a very dramatic situation. It makes a strong impression.”

Mr Zelensky’s  talks in Oslo focused on Ukraine’s air defence, with further discussions planned with companies involved in the  initiative to build a European anti ballistic system.

Mr Zelensky paid his respects to King Harald as Russia unleashed fresh devastation across Ukraine.

Two civilians died and three more were hurt in a Russian drone strike on the border crossing with Moldova.

It came after one person was killed and 14 others injured in overnight drone strikes on the capital Kyiv.

Last night, a Russian drone strike on a shopping centre in the northern city of Sumy killed three people and injured a further two.

Regional governor Oleh Hryhorov warned the death toll could still rise as rescue teams continued to battle a fire at the badly damaged building.

Zelensky said Ukrainian forces had struck a naval base and oil terminal in Russia warning: “The aggression must be stopped here and now, before it spreads any further.”

Meanwhile, Donald Trump said he had a “great conversation” with Russian tyrant Vladimir Putin and believes  a deal to end the war “could happen”.

The US President said: “He is wanting to make a deal and if Zelensky is wanting to make a deal, that would be very nice. The hold up is two people that hate each other.”
