But he is bidding for his first world title down at the 147lb welterweight division where he looked poor in his last outing against 37-year-old Regis Prograis in April.
Froch hopes his fellow Brit can upset the odds and win the same green and gold belt his legendary father held at super-middle in the early 1990s.
But Nottingham’s 49-year-old former world champ worries the drastic dehydration process and underwhelming Prograis points win could cause him serious problems.
On SunSport’s No Glove Lost show, The Cobra said: “Benn’s not punching hard hard at anything below 160lb and we are going to find out about his punch resistance, because Garcia will clip him with a hook on the way in.

“When he fought Prograis he could not hurt him over the 12 rounds, he should have hurt him, and got him out of there, with a statement, but he couldn’t hurt him.”
Former super-lightweight world champ Prograis retired straight after the Benn payday.
But not before bumping into Froch outside the Tottenham stadium and explaining that he had coasted along in his farewell fight and not been troubled by ‘The Destroyer’ who has not won early in four years.

Froch said: “I spoke to Prograis in the car park after the fight and he told me ‘he had nothing, he couldn’t hurt me’.
“He looked like s*** against Prograis, he did not look good over 12 rounds against a guy who did not want to be in there.
“Take all of that into account and the smart money is on Ryan Garcia.
“But Conor could go in there and rip the script up – and I hope he can.”
