Tremblant in Québec is building on its long-term vision to reach new heights through a $42.5 million CAD long-term investment that will elevate the mountain experience for generations to come. For winter 27/28, Tremblant will debut Timber Summit, 62 new acres of terrain with eight new trails and a new high-speed chairlift that will increase hourly lift capacity by 10%. This represents the most significant terrain expansion since the opening of Versant Soleil in the early 2000s.

For winter 26/27, Tremblant will introduce a new dedicated learning area at the base of Versant Soleil designed specifically with first-time skiers and riders in mind, with a purpose-built environment where guests can build confidence, develop their skills and discover the joy of skiing and riding. Located adjacent to the Casino Express Gondola, the new learning area’s gentle terrain and dedicated infrastructure will be designed to support progression from guests’ very first turns through the early stages of their skiing or snowboarding journey.

Building on last season’s historic expansion, Deer Valley’s vision continues to unfold with the Hail Peak Express, adding 200 more skiable acres and seven new runs for the 26/27 winter season. With these newest additions, Deer Valley now offers 32 chairlifts and 4,500 skiable acres. Families will also enjoy new snow feature zones featuring rollers, berms, and gentle ski-cross elements that create a fun, confidence-building environment for young and beginner skiers.

Article content Snowmaking and Avalanche MitigationArticle content
- Palisades Tahoe is investing $3.2 million in remote avalanche control systems designed to help the resort conduct avalanche mitigation more efficiently and reduce the amount of time employees spend in avalanche terrain. The project includes six new Gazex and Gazflex exploders at Palisades, five Wyssen avalanche towers at Alpine and a new CATEX cable system in The Funnel at Palisades. Together, these systems give the resort’s avalanche control teams more tools to address unstable snow from a remote location, including during periods of heavy snowfall, limited visibility and strong winds.
- Mammoth Mountain and June Mountain in California are expanding avalanche safety with 16 new Remote Avalanche Control Systems (RACS) across both resorts. Nearly a decade in the making, this $5.7M investment gives Ski Patrol more flexibility to mitigate hazards remotely in severe storms while keeping safety at the center of operations. This project is the result of years of evaluation, testing, regulatory work, and collaboration with avalanche professionals and industry partners.
- Solitude Mountain Resort’s commitment to having Utah’s longest ski and ride season continues in 26/27 with another major investment in snowmaking. New fixed and mobile snow guns, along with system-wide improvements, will increase both snowmaking coverage and capacity across the mountain. The multi-million dollar project builds on more than $5 million invested in snowmaking improvements last season.
- Deer Valley Resort’s new 10-million-gallon reservoir will work in tandem with the existing Summit Pump House to provide even more snowmaking coverage. In the spring, 80-90% of water used for snowmaking will return to its water source, either the Jordanelle Reservoir or the Provo River.
- Continuing a multi-year effort to completely rebuild its snowmaking infrastructure from the ground up, Winter Park Resort in Colorado continues its commitment to early season snowmaking with another round of infrastructure enhancements including additional automated fan guns and mobile guns. This project helps with earlier opening dates, doubles snowmaking capacity on Lower Hughes, and improves water usage efficiency.
- With a focus on sustainable operations, last year, Palisades Tahoe purchased California’s first hybrid Pisten Bully 600E+ snowcats, the world’s only diesel-electric snowcat. Two additional snowcats were purchased for its fleet for 26/27. Mammoth Mountain followed suit and purchased three E+ hybrid snowcats for the 26/27 season, creating one of the largest hybrid snowcat fleets in North America.
