1. The Irish from Brittany
The Irish from Brittany is a co-production by Amzer Nevez cultural centre – Interceltic Festival of Lorient and La Grande Boutique (Centre-Brittany organisation that promotes Breton bands) and features four renowned Breton musicians. The quartet will perform at Wexford Arts Centre on Wednesday, September 9 at 7.30pm. Tickets are €15 plus €1.50 and can be booked via the Wexford Arts Centre website.
2. Wexford Retro Movie presents ‘The Princess Bride’
Wexford Retro Movie Club will show a special screening of the beloved fantasy adventure The Princess Bride on Thursday, September 10t at 7.30pm in Wexford Arts Centre. Tickets for the screening are €10 plus €1.50 fee and are available to book via the Wexford Arts Centre website.
3. The Abe Rábade Trio
Two of Spain’s most celebrated musicians, pianist Abe Rábade and drummer Gonzalo del Val, join acclaimed Irish bassist David Redmond for an evening of jazz at Wexford Arts Centre on Saturday, September 12 at 7.30pm. Bringing together decades of international performance and recording experience, the trio will explore a repertoire of original compositions shaped by contemporary jazz, spontaneity and creative interplay. Tickets are €18 plus €1.50 fee and are available to book via the Wexford Arts Centre website.
4. Blackstairs Blues Festival
The annual Blacstairs Blues Festival will take place in Enniscorthy from Friday, September 11 to Sunday evening, September 13. First established in 1995, the event holds a legendary place on the Irish music calendar as Ireland’s longest continuously running blues festival. Across the three-day weekend, Enniscorthy comes alive with an extensive gig trail featuring top local, national, and international blues acts. Music lovers can experience a massive variety of styles, from intimate acoustic sessions and traditional Chicago blues to high-energy blues-rock performances hosted across local pubs, hotel stages, and community venues.
5. Sip n Paint Workshop, Tour and Lunch
Join Sarah Cogley, local Wexford artist, as she takes you on a creative journey through medieval times at Sigginstown Castle, using architecture, history, and arts and crafts as inspiration for a creative painting session. Go up through the 16th century tower on a fun tour by Gordon, followed by a light lunch in the cafe. Then you begin to paint what inspired you. Cost of €60 includes tour, lunch and workshop. 6. The Great Beach Walk
Get your walking shoes ready for The Great Beach Walk for Down Syndrome Wexford, taking place on Saturday, September 12 and finishing at The Strand, Cahore. With three walks to choose from, there’s an option for everyone: 3km Walk – 11am, starting from Old Bawn Car Park; 6km Walk – 12.30pm, starting from Morriscastle Car Park; 1.5km Buggy-Friendly Walk – 1pm, starting from the South Beach entrance. 7. Little Artist Club
