Gardaí are investigating after a woman was subjected to a terrifying assault while out walking in Waterford over the weekend.
The woman (40s) was approached by a man while out for a lunchtime stroll and subjected to a serious assault.
It occurred at a popular forest walk outside Cheekpoint on Saturday, September 5.
The Minaun is a popular spot with a local hill offering picturesque views over the meeting point of the ‘Three Sister Rivers’, the Nore, the Suir and the Barrow.
After the attack, the man fled the scene on foot.
The distraught woman was able to raise the alarm.
The man is described as being middle aged of slim build and standing around 5 ft 10 inches in height with long hair and a long, dark beard.
He was wearing a dark jacket and dark trousers.
Gardaí have issued an appeal for information via WLR FM.
