Trump says strikes are in retaliation to attempts to place sea mines in strait

By Dannielle Maguire
US President Donald Trump has posted on his social media channel about the fresh wave of attacks.
He threated more attacks if Iran retaliated.
Here’s a snippet from his post on Truth Social:
“The strikes are large and powerful, and in retaliation for the Iranians’ failed attempt at adding sea mines to the Strait, which currently has no mines (They have been completely removed or detonated!), and the Iranians shooting eight missiles, all successfully knocked down, at our Military Base in Jordan.
“If the failed Nation of Iran retaliates for this very justified attack, they will be hit again at a much harder and higher level, but it will not be the biggest attack of them all, that is waiting in the wings and, when it is over, there will be very little left of the Islamic Republic of Iran!”

Good morning, thanks for being with us as we bring you the latest in the US-Iran war.
The US military has launched new attacks on Iran, with explosions reported in cities along the Strait of Hormuz.
US Central Command, which directs the US military, posted about the fresh wave of strikes on Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) targets on social media:
“The strikes follow recent attempted attacks by the IRGC against commercial shipping in the Strait of Hormuz and against American service members deployed to the region.”
Explosions were heard in the port cities of Bandar Abbas and Sirik and on Qeshm island, state media reported.
It’s just before midnight in Iran at the moment.
