London is facing its most rain in months as millions of commuters battled wet weather over morning rush-hour.
A band of rain pushed across the capital overnight into Tuesday, drenching the capital’s streets and parks.
According to forecasts, the rain is expected to continue for much of the day, although BBC Weather’s Simon King suggested it would not be enough to alleviate the record drought, which has sparked hosepipe bands across the country including in London.
Londoners are taking to social media to share video and pictures of the rare heavy rain.

Wet weather to continue into the afternoon
This morning’s rain shows no sign of abating, with the wet weather forecast to go on until at least the early afternoon.
According to the Met Office, steady rain is expected until around 3pm, and further showers are possible through the afternoon.

Rain soaks capital during morning rush-hour
A band of rain is sweeping London on Tuesday morning, with thousands of commuters forced to reach for their umbrellas before heading to work.
The wet weather moved across the capital overnight from the west, and is expected to linger into the early afternoon.
According to BBC Weather, the rain intensified as the morning rush hour peaked between 8am and 9am.
Many have taken to X to complain about the wet conditions during their morning commute – while some welcomes the downpour following the record-setting hot and dry summer.
