FASHION boss Adam Frisby and his fiancée Jamie Corbett have hit back at “baby buying” claims as they opened up on fighting UK surrogacy laws.
The pair welcomed their daughter, Leven, earlier this year via a surrogate named Krista in America.

They chose to have their daughter across the pond, as there is more legal protection for surrogacy in the US.
But, because of UK laws, they are only considered Leven’s parents in the US and NOT over here.
Krista, who is not genetically related to Leven, is legally her parent until Adam and Jamie can obtain a parental order – which in their local authority can take eight to 10 months.
Adam, who is most famous for founding clothing company In The Style, and Jamie, 37, appeared on Sky News on Monday night as they opened up on some of the reasons they’ve decided to fight UK surrogacy laws.

Adam said: “It’s more the mental and emotional issue. I think when we had the call with our lawyer to be told this is what you can’t do when Leven is here.
“You [Jamie] came off particularly emotional and I did as well. This isn’t how it should be this is our daughter, we’ve planned her for many many years and actually we’ve got all these issues that we may face.
“Touch wood you know if ever Leven needed medical attention in hospital we’d have to go and get consent from the high court or from our surrogate and it’s just not how it should be.”
Jamie confessed: “When we go into the doctors and we call them, they ask who’s the biological father, because we have to have consent.

“But because of this grey area with the parental order, even though one of us is legally the biological father for Leven, we’re still not classed as her parents in the UK because our surrogate in the US is.”
While speaking out on their experience online, the couple received a slew of backlash over using a surrogate and now, Adam took the opportunity to bravely hit back at “baby buying” claims.
He said: “It’s actually been crazy the amount of misinformation that’s spread. We can only speak for our own journey but none of it that we see is true.
“Things for example like buying a baby, that is such a crazy accusation for somebody to make.
“You know we planned Leven for many many years and of course there’s lots of costs from medical to legal to of course the surrogate who takes nine months of her life to carry our child for us.
“It’s not buying a baby, she’s our baby and there’s a lot of families like us that are scared to speak out and share the journey because there is so much misinformation and so much hatred around it.”
Back in April, Adam and Jamie launched a petition calling for parents through surrogacy to be recognised as the child’s legal parents from birth.
MPs today debated surrogacy and legal parenthood as a result of their petition reaching over 100,000 signatures.
