Samphire Sands boasts dual aspect views of the harbour at the front and Sandbanks beach to the rear, but may be demolished just 22 months after being snapped up for £5.3m.

The current freeholder secured planning permission for the waterfront home to be knocked down, so an even bigger property can be built in its place.

The owner has now listed it for sale with Sandbanks estate agents Tailor Made.

Adrian Dunford, of Tailor Made, said: “Quite often on Sandbanks the value of the land is worth more than the house that is on it because it is all about the potential.

“In this case the land value isn’t too dissimilar to the value of the actual property.

“I would imagine a scenario where somebody buys the house and lives in it for a year so they can get a really clear idea of what rooms they use the most, what views they want to make the most of and where the sun comes up and goes down.

“They might then make some alterations to the plans for the three storey house that have already been approved to make it more bespoke to them.

“It would probably cost about £3m to build and at the end of it they will have a house worth £10m.

Which celebrities live in Sandbanks?

The exclusive south coast peninsula of Sandbanks may stretch less than two miles from the Dorset coast – but it still has its fair share of celebs.

Former Spurs manager Harry Redknapp is arguably the most famous face on Sandbanks, having lived in the area for more than 20 years and re-developed several luxury properties.

The former footy boss bought a Sandbanks home for £7m in 2022, before winning a furious planning row with neighbours and transforming it into an “Italian-style” villa worth £12.5m.

Redknapp’s former footballer and Sky Sports pundit son Jamie lives nearby, while England legend Paul Gascoigne is also known to locals.

Continuing the footy theme, Jamie’s former Sky colleague Graeme Souness is local to the area, while celebrity chef Rick Stein has a Sandbanks restaurant.

Grumpy presenter Karl Pilkington also has ties to the wealthy enclave, after buying a property in Sandbanks for £2m in 2015.

Going back even further, legendary Beatle John Lennon bought a Sandbanks bungalow for his Aunt Mimi in 1965.

The modest home has since been redeveloped into a six-bedroom property, named ‘Imagine’ after Lennon’s seminal solo track, and went on sale for £15m earlier this year.
