Wexford Gardaí recently seized drugs and a weapon in Enniscorthy.
On Friday, September 4, Gardaí attached to the Crime and Detection and Prevention Unit carried out a search in Enniscorthy.
A quantity of HHC and other high risk synthetic cannabinoids, with an estimated street value of approximately €6,000, was seized, as well as a machete.
A Garda representative explained that these types of drugs have a detrimental impact on lives.
“HHC and related synthetic cannabinoids are associated with serious physical and mental health risks. HHC has been a controlled drug in Ireland since July 2025,” they said.
“This seizure demonstrates the ongoing work by gardaí to disrupt the supply of illegal drugs within our communities,” they added.
James Kavanagh, who is a Youth Justice Practitioner, took to social media following the seizure to emphasise the consequences of partaking in these kinds of drugs.
“I’ve seen firsthand through my work with young people the impact that substances like HHC can have, particularly on teenagers. It can have a serious effect on a young person’s mental health, behaviour, relationships, and overall life,” he explained.
“If you’re a parent of a teenager, please be aware of HHC and the potential signs that your young person may be using it. Products like this can be extremely potent, and the risks shouldn’t be underestimated. It’s really important that young people have the right information and that parents know what to look out for.”
