It was curtains on Sunday night for Traitor’s Fionula Linehan, as her bluff was called at the round table.

In aptly dramatic fashion, the actor and drama teacher from Cork, was banished from the castle following a landslide vote – including an ousting from fellow traitors Carla and Paraic.

So how did she feel about the calculated betrayal?

“I mean the show is called Traitors and let’s be honest, I would have done something like that myself if it came to it – I applaud a good player,” Fionula said.

In terms of Faithfuls who are playing a good game, she said civil-servant Ian “made her nervous.”

“Ian is playing a great game – me, I wanted to get rid of him because I just knew he was going to find a Traitor. His body and his whole-self is so invested in it, and the rest of the players really believe he is a Faithful,” she said.

She believes her cloaked comrade, Carla, is also “keeping herself under the radar.”

“She’s sociable with a lot of people, and is amiable – she’s getting along quite nicely.”

Saoirse Joyce from Galway fell victim to the Traitors at the end of last week’s episode, but what did she make of the Traitors describing it as a ‘soft murder’?

“Honestly, the first time I watched it back, I was absolutely fuming, but there’s proper justification for it. There were 23 of us in there, and it’s hard to keep conversations going with everybody and honestly, I was just kind of chilling,” the 29-year-old HR specialist said.

Both players agreed that because everything is scrutinised so heavily, it doesn’t take too long for paranoia to set in.

“I was so conscious of even leaving a room or a conversation, in case you would end up being questioned,” Saoirse said.

“The experience played out how I had anticipated, the days were long. The main thing that got to me was spending 24 hours a day talking about people – that was a little bit draining,” she added.

When asked about who they’d like to see snatch victory, and the prize-pot winnings, both Saoirse and Fionula found it hard to look past married couple, Diego and Denise.

“I would love to see Diego and Denis winning – they are two beautiful, beautiful people and I just think it would be gorgeous,” the fallen Traitor said.

With regards to regrets, Fionula said there are probably “plenty” that she could have done differently, but said she won’t live in the land of “coulda, shoulda, woulda.”

“I learned that you just can’t be prepared in a game like that – it’s a kaleidoscope of change, and you’re trying to keep up with what’s happening in one corner, while it’s changing in the other,” she said.
