This article contains spoilers for tonight’s (Monday, September 7) Coronation Street, which has not yet aired on TV but is available to watch now on YouTube and ITVX.
Kit Green (Jacob Roberts) has been on the rebound in recent Coronation Street scenes since being dumped by Sarah Platt (Tina O’Brien) last month.
Sarah is currently awaiting trial for the murder of Theo Silverton, and she called things off with detective boyfriend Kit to protect his career.
It’s safe to say that Kit didn’t take it well, and tried to get over Sarah by accepting dates with Jodie Ramsey (Olivia Frances-Brown), despite countless people warning him it was a bad idea.
However, in tonight’s episode, it was confirmed that Jodie wasn’t the person he slept with, and it quickly became clear why he felt so guilty about it.
When Kit woke up on the sofa as his one night stand hurried out of the flat, he looked at a photo of him and Sarah, clearly regretting his actions.
At the end of the episode, Kit met up with the woman he’d slept with in the ginnel and asserted that he’d made a mistake and didn’t want to talk about what happened, so she needed to stop calling and texting him.
It was then revealed that the woman was none other than Sarah’s own daughter, Bethany Platt (Lucy Fallon).
However, Kit had bigger problems on his mind than just his guilt over sleeping with Bethany.
Earlier in the episode, Kit had an appointment at the hospital, where he was diagnosed with stage three breast cancer.
Kit was completely taken aback by the news, and when the consultant explained that they had also found cancer in his lymph nodes, he was terrified that it was spreading.
The consultant explained that they wouldn’t know for certain until after they’d done more tests, and explained that he’d need to undergo treatment, including a mastectomy.

Kit shared his confusion about how the procedure would work for a man, and the consultant explained that it would involve removing breast tissue, as well as the nipple and areola.
Sensing Kit’s shock and unease, Jane, the breast cancer nurse specialist, assured him that it was a surgery with a high success rate, and that there were options for reconstructive surgery in the future.
Kit was understandably keen to know what his chances of beating the cancer were, and the consultant assured him that the statistics were in his favour, but that early detection is critical for recovery.
With Kit already pushing Bethany away and refusing to tell his family about the diagnosis, will he have anyone to support him through his difficult diagnosis?
