A mixed week will bring rain and showers but also a good deal of dry weather, Met Éireann has said.
Met Éireann forecaster Rebecca Cantwell said temperatures this week are set to remain around average for the time of year, but it should feel slightly milder, with lighter winds.
This week will start with a dry and bright Monday morning in the east of the country, but cloud and rain will spread to most areas later on.
The rain will be heavy at times, with thundery falls possible, she added.
“As the rain clears southeastwards, sunny spells and scattered showers will spread from the northwest later in the afternoon and evening,” she told the daily weather podcast.
“It will be rather breezy at times today, with moderate to fresh and gusty southwesterly winds and highs of 14 to 19C,” she added.
Meanwhile, Tuesday will be a blustery day with a mixture of sunny spells, scattered showers and fresh or gusty winds.
Showers are set to be the heaviest and most frequent over the northern half of the country, Ms Cantwell said.
However, they will become more isolated everywhere by Tuesday evening as the winds gradually ease.
Tuesday will also be a cooler day, with highest temperatures of 14 to 17C.
“The rest of the week looks rather mixed with largely dry although cloudier conditions on Wednesday,” Ms Cantwell said.
“There will just be the odd stray light shower possible. Then, it looks like we have a wetter day in store for Thursday as rain spreads across the country, with moderate southerly winds.
“Followed by a drier day once again for Friday, with sunny spells and a few light showers around that should ease through the afternoon, leaving a dry and sunny evening,” she added.
