The members of a Tidy Towns group in Wexford are becoming increasingly frustrated by the illegal dumping that is affecting their quiet village.
Members of Ferns Tidy Towns were frustrated and shocked to come upon illegal dumping in the area of Effernogue, described as a “quiet scenic area” that is kept clean by the locals.
However, what met them at the site were enough children’s board games, and boxes from numerous pairs of shoes and slippers to fill two reusable bags.
Further down along the road, there was a black bag containing household rubbish, food waste and packaging from Easter eggs.
In addition, a representative from the group said they discovered that the dumper was from Enniscorthy and had travelled out to their village to intentionally dump their waste.
“A message to the person that dumped the black bag of household waste – can’t believe you drove all the way from Enniscorthy to dump your rubbish. You may wonder how we know this, well the rubbish included an envelope with your name and address,” they said.
This incident has been reported to Wexford County Council.
