Mark Power suffered a Sunday disappointment as he slipped to 15th and England’s John Gough claimed the Rosa Challenge Tour in Poland.
The Kilkenny man went into the final round chasing his maiden HotelPlanner Tour win and an important jump into the top 70 in the rankings.
But after hanging with Gough through the turn, he double-bogeyed the 11th and followed a birdie at the 13th with a triple-bogey six at the 14th.
A four-over-par 74 left him tied for 15th on five-under and seven shots behind Gough, who shot 67 to win his second HotelPlanner Tour title of the season by a shot from compatriot Andrew Wilson.
But Power had the consolation of jumping to 67th in the Road to Mallorca and into position to play the big money events in China in October.
He also plays this week’s Amgen Irish Open at Doonbeg, where South Africa’s Thriston Lawrence will tee it up fresh from his third win in the Omega European Masters in five years.
The defending champion beat England’s Paul Casey with a birdie at the fourth play-off hole at Crans-sur-Sierre after shooting an eight-under 62 to tie with the Englishman (68) on 18 under.
