CASUALTY viewers shared their disappointment after learning when the BBC show returns – after dramatic 40th Anniversary episodes.
The long-running medical drama celebrated its milestone with a two-episode special on Saturday, September 5.

The emergency department team were pushed to their limits in a major rescue operation after a huge explosion at a neighbouring hospital, St James’.
Although fans were up in arms after BBC One’s continuity announcer revealed when Casualty will be back on-air.
Speaking during the end credits, the announcer said: “For 40 years, Casualty has been the beating heart of our Saturday nights.
“The best is yet to come, with some exciting changes ahead.

Writing on X, one viewer shared: “Well i didn’t realise casualty wasn’t back til new year and now my day is ruined x.”
Another added: “Can’t believe casualty isn’t back till next year. So annoying considering it’s just had a break. Just stick it on bbc 2 if something is on BBC One.”
A third penned: “After two fantastic episodes of Casualty why would BBC decide not to bring it back till next year, just when people have got excited about it again?

The 40th anniversary episodes saw Sophia Peters – played by Kellie Shirley – die after burns covered her head, body and even her airways inside.
Despite her ex Dylan Keogh’s best efforts, Sophia passed away in tragic scenes, leaving him devastated and unable to cope.
Last year, a new contract created an opportunity to increase Welsh portrayal and the show will be set in Cardiff as well as continuing to be filmed there.
