A three-month-old girl has died while out camping with her family in a Staffordshire woodland.
The youngster experienced cardiac arrest – when the heart suddenly stops beating – near Strawberry Lane, Cheslyn Hay, on Saturday morning.
She was declared dead soon after air ambulance crews arrived at 8.45am.
The ‘unexplained’ death of the baby girl was an ‘isolated incident’, the force said today.
Det Insp Katie Gregory said: ‘While the investigation remains at an early stage, this is an isolated incident and we understand that the child’s family was camping in the area.

‘The death is being treated as unexplained at this time.’
Officers cordoned off a fishing lake in the Wyrley and Essington Branch Canal Local Nature Reserve yesterday and remain in the area.
One witness said she directed paramedics towards the fishing lake.
Drone footage shows at least four tents and camping chairs close to the fishing platforms.
District councillor Robert Duncan said in a Facebook post that the baby’s death is ‘deeply upsetting’.
He added: ‘As soon as the full and confirmed details are formally shared with me, I will provide a further update to residents.
‘Until then, please avoid speculation and allow the family and responders the privacy and respect they deserve.’
The Wyrley and Essington Canal, nicknamed the Curly Wyrley for its twisting shape, is popular with cyclists and anglers.
