A LAMBORGHINI worth over £200,000 has been seized by cops after it was caught driving at speeds suspected to be more than twice the limit.
Shocked residents in Southend made multiple calls to Essex Police on Saturday afternoon after reports of the supercar speeding in the area.
It is understood the Lamborghini Huracan was being driven at about 80mph in a 30mph zone.
Officers then seized the supercar from the reckless driver under tougher laws introduced to crack down on dangerous driving.
The Lamborghini Huracan has an on-the-road recommended retail price of £238,195, depending on the version, according to Autotrader.
It was seized under Section 59 of the Police Reform Act 2002, which was strengthened earlier this year to give police more seizure powers.

Drivers who drive their cars in a reckless way by wheel-spinning and causing burnouts, drifting in public places, racing in residential areas or repeatedly revving their engines could have their vehicle seized.
Before the changes, drivers could only have their car confiscated if they were involved in another antisocial driving incident within the past 12 months.
Officers can still choose to give a warning to motorists at their discretion.
A spokesman for Essex Police said: “Antisocial driving can pose a danger to other people using the road and cause misery to residents.

According to Essex Police’s website, under the new legislation, the owner of a seized vehicle has to attend the car pound within seven working days and with the correct documentation.
It comes after a number of luxury motors were seized by cops after they were caught wheel-spinning, weaving and slowing down to speeds of 17mph on a major motorway.
One clip shows Lamborghinis and a Mercedes G-Wagon being stopped by police in Rochdale, Greater Manchester, on Wednesday evening.
Cops shared the footage, which was captured just before 7pm, on social media after a number of people were prosecuted for driving dangerously on the M66 and M62.
The high-powered supercars were first spotted speeding on the M66 motorway.
Police said the cars were seen weaving across lanes, wheel spinning and slowing down to speeds of around 17mph on the motorway.
The vehicles were then spotted on the M62, with officers deployed to bring them to a stop.
Two Lamborghinis were stopped as they came off the motorway.
