For months I had observed a disturbing development in the English Channel where hundreds of migrants were brazenly arriving on our shores in overcrowded dinghies every week.

I captured these shocking events on video, revealing not only were migrants (mainly young men) making the journey from France unchallenged, but that French authorities were complicit in escorting them to British waters.
Around that time, I recall a senior border force official warning me these crossings would continue for years. Considering the threat to national security, I thought it highly improbable. How wrong I was.
Six years on, illegal migrants still arrive in droves — numbers have gone up dramatically. And as each boat arrives, the British public must face another masterclass in political cowardice from our political masters.
Their failure to tackle this problem has been nothing short of shocking. Boris Johnson’s Conservatives launched a plan to deport illegal migrants to Rwanda, knowing it was doomed from the start.

That is why this week I announced that a Reform UK government will declare a state of emergency on day one, with a plan to end illegal crossings for good.
We have already announced that with Operation Fortress we will deploy the Navy in the channel to pick up small boat migrants and take them back to France. And at our party conference in Birmingham on Friday, I unveiled our piece de resistance.
The Memorandum of Understanding I signed with Jordan Bardella, head of France’s National Rally and front-runner to be the country’s next president, is the first serious, practical commitment from senior British and French politicians to stop the boats and end the invasion.

Of course, the usual voices will scream. They will talk about international law and the usual faff.
That is why we will leave the European Convention on Human Rights on day one. The Westminster elite tried to convince you border control is an unsurmountable problem. It’s not. It’s a matter of backbone.
When patriotic movements take power in London and Paris at the same time, illegal trafficking networks will find nowhere to hide.
People are fed up with billions wasted on hotels, on illegal migrant camps that spring up without consultation, with no longer feeling safe and the same pathetic excuses.
Establishment parties told us international treaties of the last century can’t be touched. They were wrong. This week, we proved it.
The pieces are in place. We are ready. A Reform UK government will finally take back control of the Channel, restore order — and stop those boats for good.
