HUNGER Games fans were left fuming today after the matinee stage show in London was cancelled at very short notice.
Ticket-holders were already in the capital and on their way to the play’s specially created arena in Canary Wharf when show bosses emailed to say it had been cancelled due to cast illness and injury.
In a short message, they said: “We regret to inform you that the producers have made the decision to cancel today’s 2.30pm performance of The Hunger Games On Stage due to multiple cast illness and injury
“Your tickets will be automatically refunded.”
One ticketholder told us: “To say we’re devastated is an understatement. We’re huge fans of the film and travelled all the way from the North East to see the show for a special occasion so it’s really upsetting.
“We get illness can’t be helped, but surely they have contingency plans for this sort of thing or, at the very least, had an idea the show couldn’t go on much earlier.

It’s not the first time the production has axed a performance, much to the disappointment of fans.
In June, a show was brought to a premature end midway through when the crew discovered an issue with the fire system.
While in January, another performance was cancelled shortly before stage time due to injury.

On both occasions fans were entitled to refunds but weren’t compensated for other trip expenses.
The high-octane play, which features daring stunts and explosive pyrotechnics, focuses on Suzanne Collins’s first Hunger Games novel.
It tells the story of impoverished youngster Katniss Everdeen and her plight to keep her family alive in the coal-mining region of District 12.
She selflessly demands to replace her sister as a tribute for the 74th Hunger Games, a vicious annual contest which sees representatives selected from different districts fight to the death in a controlled arena.
The winners receive a lifetime of wealth while food parcels are sent to their districts each month, though the victors are also required to mentor tributes every year going forward.
