AN EFL club surprised football fans when they listed a job advert and its salary on social media.
Some football clubs, and organisations in general, can be cagey about openly advertising their wages.
But not League Two outfit Grimsby, who were fully open about the perks of applying for their vacant role as Head of Medical for their men’s first team.
The Cleethorpes-based job came with a wage range of between £44,000-£49,000, as well as a further £5k towards relocation costs.
The post represented an unusual amount of transparency for such a listing, with fans flocking to the comments to give their reaction.
Many who were convinced by the reasonable salary jokingly threw their names in the hat.

One commenter wrote: “Can I learn on the job?”
Another joked: “I don’t have any medical experience apart from taking medications but I can shout GOAL even when we’re down to improve the energy, am I qualified??”
A third quipped: “If I have a head, without the medical, can I still apply?”
And a fourth fan added: “No experience but I’ll take it.”

Grimsby are currently struggling in League Two, sitting in mid table having won just one of their opening five games.
It seems a far cry from their triumphant evening just over a year ago, when they sent Manchester United tumbling out of the Carabao Cup on penalties.
