Rain and blustery weather is on the cards for this weekend, but there will be some drier days next week, Met Éireann has said.
Met Éireann meteorologist Aoife Kelly said this weekend is going to be “fairly unsettled”, with some rain and drizzle later on Saturday and a blustery day on Sunday with further spells of rain.
“Next week is going to start off unsettled, but a brief drier interlude will develop on Tuesday and Wednesday,” she told the daily weather podcast.
“This morning, it is going to be mostly dry start with sunny spells and isolated showers.
“Cloud will slowly increase from the southwest through the morning and afternoon though.
“That’s going to bring some patchy rain and drizzle northeastwards through the day, though many parts of the east and northeast will stay dry.
“Some mist and hill fog developing today too. Highest of 15 to 19C with light to moderate southwest winds backing southeast,” she added.
Sunday will be a blustery day, with moderate to fresh and gusty winds, which might become strong on west and northwest coasts.
Ms Kelly said: “Some early sunny spells will occur in the east tomorrow, but it is going to be largely cloudy otherwise with outbreaks of rain spreading across the country from the west through the day.”
Highest temperatures on Sunday will range between 17 and 21C.
Some heavy and thundery rain is possible in places on Monday, with strong winds at Atlantic coasts.
It will be unsettled at first with rain on Monday, Met Éireann has said, before becoming drier on Tuesday and Wednesday with a few showers.
It will also feel fresher with temperatures generally in the mid-teens, the national forecaster said.
“Temperatures early next week will drop back a bit to highs around 14 to 18C,” Ms Kelly added.
