A secondary school in Clare has welcomed a new member to the team in the form of their new school therapy dog, Thomas.
St Patrick’s Comprehensive in Shannon said Thomas is “already proving to be the most popular person on the team here in the school”.
“We are incredibly proud to introduce the newest member of The Comp team; Thomas, our school therapy dog from My Canine Companion – Autism and Therapy Services,” the post read.
“[Thomas] has settled right into his rightful place as the heart of the school. He has begun his invaluable role of brightening the day of our school community and is forming an integral part of the day here in The Comp.
“Although new and still a puppy, he is enriching the lives of all those around him. Our huge thanks to My Canine Companion and the staff here who look after Thomas with such care and dedication. We can’t wait to keep you informed of all his adventures here in The Comp.”
The secondary school is continuing to fundraise for training and supports for the new team member through idonate, adding that the staff “appreciate the fundraising accomplished to date”.
The Comp, as it is affectionately known, have also created a new dedicated webpage to keep students, parents, staff, and more, appraised of Thomas and his new role, with “more pupdates” promised.
