MCDONALD’S has confirmed it has axed a popular game after 20 years and fans will be devastated.

The home of the golden arches has said McDonald’s Monopoly will not be returning to restaurants in 2026.

The competition gave customers the chance to win a range of prizes including holidays, cash and free food.

Last year the competition kicked off on September 10 and ran for around six weeks.

To take part customers collected stickers from food packaging, which represented train stations or colour coordinated road names, similar to the original game.

To win customers needed to collect multiple stickers to build property sets, which gave them the chance to win big prizes.

Last year three lucky winners scooped up £100,000 each, while 90 potential winners bagged £2,000 worth of Jet2holidays.

Meanwhile, top prizes have also included a Mini Cooper, LED TV and Merlin Annual Pass.

McDonald’s launched the popular promotion in 2005 and has run it every year except 2020, when it was axed due to the Coronavirus pandemic.

The news comes after McDonald’s axed its Wrap of the Day deal, which provided a daily wrap at a discounted price of £2.49.

The deal was rebranded on July 14 as Wrap in the App.

Foodies now have to use their smartphone to get the offer and pick it up in store or via delivery.

Customers who want to order the app using a kiosk will have to pay between £4.49 – £5.79.

A McDonald’s spokesperson said: “We know how much our customers love our promotions, from the brand-new launch of CARDS in March, to our first-ever XBOX partnership as part of the Side Missions launch.

“We’re always looking for new ways to surprise and delight our customers, and while Monopoly won’t feature in 2026, we’ll continue listening closely to what they enjoy most as we shape future promotions.”
