Mark Power boosted his chances of breaking into the all-important top 70 on the HotelPlanner Tour rankings at the Rosa Challenge Tour in Poland.
Ranked 78th in the Road to Mallorca standings, with only the top 70 making the big-money events in China in October, the Kilkenny man added a three-under 67 to his opening 66 to share sixth place, just three strokes behind Scotland’s Ryan Lumsden.
Power can earn more HotelPlanner Tour points at next week’s Amgen Irish Open at Doonbeg, but as he’s not yet in the field for the following week’s Open de Portugal on the second-tier tour, it’s a crucial time for him.
Gary Hurley shot 69 to share 27th on three-under, but Ronan Mullarney, 51st on one-under after a 73, was the only other Irishman to make the cut at Rosa Golf Club.
On the DP World Tour, Thriston Lawrence is in pole position as he seeks his third win in five years at the Omega European Masters at Crans-sur-Sierre.
Winner of the title in 2022 and again last year, the South African followed a 64 with a seven-under 63 to lead by two strokes on 13-under par.
Germany’s Jeremy Paul shot 64 and Spain’s Nacho Elvira a 62 to share second place.
