LUCAS DIGNE’s return to Paris Saint-Germain is off to a rocky start as he was left out of the side’s latest squad.
The Frenchman joined up with his former side this summer as part of an exodus of talent leaving Villa Park.
But now Digne, 33, may be regretting that decision after being completely omitted from Luis Enrique‘s side to face Monaco on Friday.
According to L’Equipe, “sporting reasons” are behind the decision after the full-back’s lacklustre start to life in the French capital.
Any hopes of finding regular football with his new side were quickly quashed when he was left as an unused substitute in their season opener against Rennes.
He saw some action against Lille the following week, coming on in the 71st minute with his side 2-0 down.

PSG rallied to score goals in the first and fifth minutes of extra time to steal a point, but apparently Digne’s hand in the turnaround was deemed unsatisfactory as he has since been dropped entirely from the squad.
His selection woes are made all the more concerning considering Nuno Mendes, the first choice option in the left-back position, is serving a suspension.
The Portugal international was handed a straight red card against Lens in their Trophee des Champions match before the season’s start, leaving him sidelined for the opening three Ligue 1 matches of the season.
Versatile centre-backs Lucas Beraldo and Lucas Hernandez were selected to start on the left side of Enrique’s back four in the Lille and Rennes games respectively, making Digne a third choice at best.

But even he is faring better than Villa, who were thumped 4-0 by Brighton in their Premier League opener.
