Toronto Dominion Bank says chief operating officer Taylan Turan, who joined the bank less than a year ago, will be leaving.

Turan, who previously worked at HSBC Holdings PLC, Barclays PLC and Citigroup Inc.,  joined TD on Sept. 29, 2025, with his goal being to reduce complexity, speed up execution, enhance efficiency and establish programs and strategies to elevate the client experience and accelerate growth, TD said back then.

In the past year, he has helped advance and accelerate TD’s transformation agenda by strengthening how the lender operates, extending its artificial intelligence leadership and building capabilities that will support future growth, TD said in a statement on Thursday.

The bank also announced three other changes, including the appointment of Vlad Shpilsky as head of its Global Technology and Solutions division. Under Shpilsky, the bank launched new AI-enabled applications that it said enhance resilience and security and boost client experience.

In addition, Renu Gupta has been appointed chief strategy and commercial officer, a role that focuses on corporate development, digital assets, payments and partnerships, while Paul Whitehead has been appointed senior executive vice-president of Global Corporate Services.

“We have significant momentum and even greater opportunity ahead as we drive change, power our businesses with AI and deliver differentiated, more human client experiences,” Chun said. “These appointments bring critical capabilities together, strengthen accountability.”
