Five seriously injured in two-vehicle crash at Elizabeth Town in Tasmania’s north

Emergency services are at the scene of a two-vehicle crash in Tasmania’s north which has left five people with serious injuries.
A rescue helicopter was sent to the scene of the crash which occurred on the Bass Highway near the Gannons Hill Road intersection at Elizabeth Town.
The Bass Highway is blocked in both directions.
Inspector Nick Clark said police were notified of the crash about 2pm.
“One vehicle had two occupants and the other vehicle had three,” he said.
“Members from Tasmania Police, Ambulance Tasmania, the Tasmania Fire Service and SES have attended the scene.
“It’s a very complex scene, and at this stage an investigation will be going late into the evening.
“The highway will be blocked for some hours to come yet.“
Police have asked people to avoid the area and obey traffic diversions as emergency services attend to the scene.
