Kat Slater is left seriously worried about Tommy Moon in EastEnders next week, as his fears over Joel push him towards a troubling decision.
Things are already complicated for the Slaters, but Zoe soon realises there’s something weighing heavily on Tommy and steps in to help Kat get to the bottom of it.
Zoe reveals that Tommy is worried about seeing Joel, prompting Kat to rethink her plans and focus her attention on her family.
Rather than attending the weddings taking place in Walford, Kat decides to stay behind and spend some much-needed quality time with Zoe at The Vic.
And for a brief moment, it seems like things could actually be heading in the right direction.
Kat even manages to turn her attention to another family problem, persuading Yolande to speak to Patrick about accepting Jasmine.
But while the adults are trying to patch things up, Tommy is quietly struggling.
Despite Kat’s attempts to be there for him, the youngster steals a bottle of vodka from The Vic’s barrel store and slips away to drink it in secret.
Kat is horrified when news reaches her about what Tommy has done and immediately sets out to find him.
The timing couldn’t be worse for Zoe, either.
She has just told Kat that she’s managed to track down Charlie’s old cab after discovering it is up for sale.
The vehicle understandably holds huge sentimental value for the Slaters, and Zoe is determined to get it back.
Kat initially plans to go with her to meet the seller, but Tommy’s drinking takes priority and she’s forced to abandon those plans.
That leaves Zoe to head off alone, and it doesn’t exactly go smoothly.
She soon finds herself arguing with the person selling Charlie’s cab and, as tensions rise, Zoe makes a very impulsive decision.
Rather than walking away, she steals the cab.
Meanwhile, Kat finally manages to track Tommy down.
With his behaviour having made it clear just how badly he’s struggling, mother and son have an emotional heart-to-heart as Kat tries to understand what’s really going on with him.
But she barely has time to process the situation before another crisis lands at her door.
Kat is stunned when she discovers what Zoe has done with Charlie’s cab, and the situation becomes much more serious when the furious seller turns up.
Faced with the possibility that Zoe could get into trouble with the police, Kat and Alfie scramble to find the money needed to sort things out.
They manage to come up with the funds, but that doesn’t put an end to the tension.
Zoe ends up clashing with both Kat and Zack, leaving relations within the family strained once again.
And Kat doesn’t have much opportunity to dwell on it.
With Kim and Howie’s wedding congregation arriving at The Vic to continue the celebrations, she’s forced to put on a brave face and carry on despite everything happening behind the scenes.
It’s a lot for Kat to deal with in a short space of time, particularly with her concerns about Tommy still hanging over her.
Alfie later encourages her to make amends with Zoe following their latest argument, but with Tommy struggling, Zoe acting impulsively and Kat caught in the middle, keeping the Slaters together could prove easier said than done.
Will Kat manage to get through to Tommy before his worries over Joel send him spiralling further?
